The Abbey of Trois-Fontaines was founded in 1118 by St Bernard of Clairvaux. From the 12th century there remain the ruins of the abbey church. The Cistercian architecture was embellished in the 18th century. The grounds are planted with rare species of trees, shielding fountains and statues. The ruins are inaccessible for safety reasons and guided tours must be booked in advance.
