Balade à Loivre

The inhabitants of Loivre are called "Sourciers", because of the springs which begin in the area, including that of la Loivre. It is pleasant to walk along the canal on the consolidated towpath, and greet the lock keepers who have decorated the reach beautifully, take a breather in the rest area near the station, and spare a thought for the future bride and groom as, with hearts racing, they take the bridal path leading to the Town Hall. This fine building was rebuilt after the village was destroyed in the First World War. Only postcards show the old buildings, but plaques are fixed here and there to show the traces of these places that have faded away.
