Why
take advantage (of it)...!
History explains the name of this village. Under the reign of Clovis, the inhabitants received land on the condition that they were baptised. Later, each time the hamlet was mentioned, the lord spoke of: "Nos gens" (our people). The term remained, just like the word "abbesse" relating to the abbey Saint-Pierre aux Dames de Reims which owned a wine press and a small castle where the Abbess came for the summer. So the vineyards go back a long way. But phylloxera nearly wiped them out, reducing the area from 108 to 3 hectares! Thanks to the efforts of fifty or so wine growers, the southern slope of the Mont de Berru has regained its prosperity.
