Housed in the 18th-century Hôtel de la Subdélégation de Champagne, the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire de Sainte-Ménehould contains a collection of paintings, sculptures, objets d’art and scientific objects which retrace the history of the town from its founding up until its reconstruction in the 18th century. A series of 17th- and 18th-century masterpieces illustrate the tastes and lifestyle of an era centred on an ideal of beauty and an aspiration to knowledge. Finally, its religious art collection bears witness to the importance of faith in a society imbued with Christianity.
