Why go there?
From a hillock in the fields, Napoleon I followed the movements of the Battle of Reims. If the Emperor came back, he would not recognise the place. In the space of a century, Tinqueux has gone from 400 to more than 10,000 inhabitants, to become the fifth largest town in the department. Almost all of it is now urbanised and even the little stream which flows through has been channelled and covered. The inhabitants can relax in various parks which provide a large play area for children, a fitness trail, and football pitches and tennis courts. And don't miss the banks of the Vesle included in the huge intercity project of la Coul‚e Verte (the green line). The origin of the name Tinqueux? There are two hypotheses: a damp place or a region of Roman dyers.
