‘2 fleurs’ village in bloom
Residents of Vouzy (320 inhabitants) have shown their interest in receiving tourists, by opening a number of country gîtes. The village has little in the way of heritage, but is a stone’s throw from the Côte des Blancs vineyards. Its church dating from 1852 has been restored and the former café has been turned into a community centre. The Second World War left its bloody mark, with a memorial erected on private land to three French aviators killed when their aircraft was shot down in 1940. The modern windmills of the renovated former hunting lodge ‘Le Petit Moulin’ appear to say that here wind power goes back a long way.
