Visit this important site which was the scene of the Battle of Valmy on 20 September 1792. Here the French Army, under the command of Dumouriez, faced the coalition forces of the European monarchies. General Kellermann commanded the centre of the army, near the windmill. The day after the battle, the First Republic was proclaimed.
What to see: the windmill, Princess Ginetti’s chapel, the Kellermann monument, the pyramid containing Kellermann’s heart, the Bolivar bust and the statue of Miranda.
